Carbon Reduction Plan
This Carbon Reduction Plan is prepared in accordance with Procurement Policy Notice (PPN) 06/21 and the associated technical standard, proportionate to our size and activity: a four-person, fully remote, cloud-native software company with no premises and no vehicles.
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
You4You Health Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045, ahead of the UK Government's 2050 target and aligned with the NHS Carbon Footprint Plus ambition. Our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are already zero, and our plan focuses on measuring and reducing the small Scope 3 footprint that remains.
Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline year: 16 June 2025 – 30 June 2026 (our first year of operation). This is also our first reporting year, so baseline and current emissions are the same.
| Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
|---|---|
| Scope 1 — premises fuel and company vehicles (none held) | 0.0 |
| Scope 2 — purchased electricity (no company premises) | 0.0 |
| Scope 3, cat. 4 — upstream transportation & distribution (digital services only) | 0.0 |
| Scope 3, cat. 5 — waste generated in operations (no premises) | 0.0 |
| Scope 3, cat. 6 — business travel (rail-first, occasional; estimated) | 0.3 |
| Scope 3, cat. 7 — employee commuting incl. homeworking (4 FTE, fully remote; estimated) | 1.3 |
| Scope 3, cat. 9 — downstream transportation & distribution (software only) | 0.0 |
| Total (PPN 06/21 required categories) | 1.6 |
Voluntary additional disclosure: we estimate a further ~2.0 tCO2e per year from cloud computing and purchased IT equipment (spend-based estimate). From FY2026/27 we will measure cloud emissions directly using the AWS Customer Carbon Footprint Tool and the Microsoft Emissions Impact Dashboard and include them in this plan.
Current emissions reporting
Reporting year 16 June 2025 – 30 June 2026 (first year; identical to the baseline above): 1.6 tCO2e across the PPN 06/21 required categories — approximately 0.40 tCO2e per full-time employee.
Emissions reduction targets
- Maintain Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions at zero as we grow (remote-first; no premises or vehicles planned).
- Reduce per-employee emissions across the PPN categories by at least 10% by 2030 against the FY2025/26 baseline (0.40 → 0.36 tCO2e per FTE), so total emissions grow more slowly than headcount.
- Measure and report cloud emissions from FY2026/27, and set a cloud-efficiency target in the first plan that includes a full year of measured data.
- Achieve Net Zero across all reported scopes by 2045.
Carbon reduction projects
Completed and ongoing:
- Remote-first operating model — no offices and no commuting by default, eliminating the largest typical sources of small-company emissions.
- UK cloud regions on AWS and Microsoft Azure, both operating ambitious renewable-energy and net-zero programmes; workloads use auto-scaling and serverless patterns so compute is not left running idle.
- Rail-first travel policy; video-first client engagement.
- Device lifecycle of at least four years, with certified refurbishment and WEEE-compliant recycling at end of life.
- Environmental considerations managed through our ISO 14001-aligned environmental management system.
Planned:
- Direct measurement of cloud emissions via provider carbon tools from FY2026/27.
- Supplier selection criteria favouring providers with published net-zero commitments.
- Annual review of this plan against the latest Government conversion factors, republished each year.
